He had an interesting response about the Finn Balor stuff, claiming that someone backstage wants him fired and is leaking false information to get him fired. Rush was interviewed by Fightful, where he gave his side of the story of some these rumors. Rush reportedly responded unfavorably to this advice and the news spread quickly to the WWE locker room. Balor reportedly advised Rush that Vince McMahon wouldn’t be too happy with his wife sitting in on these rehearsals. It was reported that Balor gave Rush some advice about his wife sitting in on rehearsal meetings. One of these rumors had to do with Finn Balor. Most of them have to do with Rush having some backstage heat with the WWE locker room.
He is not booked on WWEs upcoming European tour and his current contract with the company isn’t up for expiration until next year. There have been plenty of rumors floating around about Lio Rush over the past week or so. Rush’s future with WWE is up in the air, as the latest reports suggest he will be sent down to NXT and re-packaged. Mark Henry also took exception to Rush’s comments about his wages, saying that if he can’t afford a rental car or a hotel based on the money he is making that “you need to change the way you’re spending and can’t blame the office.” Finally, in response to Lio’s claims that he is not able to make a livable wage in WWE, PWInsider reports that sources have suggested that he was recently offered a five-year contract worth about $300,000 annually but he rejected that and asked for double the amount. When word of this got around backstage, it led to a situation where Rush was removed from the locker room for a period of time. When another wrestler (not Finn Balor as noted in a separate report) attempted to speak to Rush about the incidents on the 2018 tour, they were “rebuffed” with Rush saying that he “works for Vince, not you” and he went to management to complain, causing WWE officials to talk to the senior wrestler. They also cite an incident where Rush brought multiple people backstage without proper credentials and when they were confronted, one member of his group began loudly yelling at a female security guard, which rubbed even more people the wrong way. PWInsider also substantiated rumours that Rush has been bringing his wife backstage to multiple events and allowing her to change clothes in the women’s locker room dating back to the November European tour.
Mark Henry also went public taking exception to Rush’s claims saying that even people like Steve Austin and The Rock paid respect to the business by doing what was asked of them and it’s not a race issue at all, but rather an ego issue. Finally, the talent added that Rush’s claim that a black wrestler carrying around water for others “wouldn’t be a good look” makes no sense as only wrestlers backstage would have even seen or known that was taking place. This wrestler also wondered if the reason Rush refused to follow that tradition is because his wife was backstage on that tour. In response his interview with where Rush addressed rumours of having issues in the locker room as well incidents involving his wife, is reporting that one wrestler who was on the previously referenced 2018 European tour dropped them a line and noted that The Authors of Pain and Drake Maverick were also on their first tours and had no problem with “paying respect” by carrying water coolers around in the back. The situation with Lio Rush continues to be a hot topic of discussion and there’s even more news that is making its way online.
